The dye 6-Fam as well as 5-Fam are the two isomers of fluorescein. Both dyes differ only by the position of the linker (C5 or C6). Fam is one of the most commonly used dyes and can be used as label for direct fluorescence imaging or haptene-label that can be visualized with immuno-detection linked either to chemiluminiscence or colour formation.
